The Ukrainian Esports Federation (UESF) together with the WePlay Esports media holding company and with the support of the Ukrainian Electronic Football Association, will form national teams that will represent Ukraine at the IeSF World Championship 2021.
Following the qualifiers, teams in Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be selected, as well as the best Ukrainian players in Tekken 7 and PES 2021. Competitions are held from July 23 to August 22, 2021.
The development of esports in Ukraine is the main vector of interaction between WePlay Esports and UESF. Both organizations initiate joint events so that more and more Ukrainians can become part of the esports community, take part in competitions, and find like-minded people.
No less important is establishing Ukraine’s image on the world esports scene. To do this, we need to present national teams at reputable international championships, one of which is the IeSF World Championship 2021.
The IeSF World Championship 2021 is an annual esports championship organized by the International Esports Federation. National federations of countries around the world hold qualifying competitions and create teams composed of the best players. This year, 106 countries will participate in the qualifiers for the IESF World Championship.
As part of the qualifying competitions for the World Championship, well-known esports personalities from Ukraine will be invited to become head coaches of the national teams in the following disciplines:
- CS:GO: Oleksii “уХо” Maletskyi, WePlay Esports talent.
- Dota 2: Oleksandr “DKPhobos” Kucheria, professional Dota 2 player, and Ivan “Faeton” Danishevsky, head of the UESF board.
- Tekken 7: Stanislav “BitterS” Yefanov, professional Tekken 7 player.
“It’s really cool that Ukraine will be represented at a world-class esports championship. The competition format with teams from different countries participating implies even greater unity.
And I am very glad that even more kids will have the opportunity to develop their esports careers. I am sure we will find many talented players who will prove themselves on the global esports scene!” shared Oleksii “уХо” Maletskyi, WePlay Esports talent.
“Today, we’re making history. After so many years of work, we are finally putting together the first official Ukrainian national team. I am confident that this step will lead to the worldwide recognition of both our athletes and our country as a whole. We have developed a new format specially for these selections. It may be experimental, but this is esports, we are supposed to break stereotypes and find new solutions. Good luck to everyone and expect more awesome events from UESF!” said Ivan Danishevsky, head of the board UESF.
Specifics of national qualifiers for the IeSF World Championship 2021
Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competitions will be held in several stages on the WePlay Tournament Platform (team qualifiers) and the FACEIT platform (solo league). Everyone can register for the open qualifiers, and invited Dota 2 and CS:GO teams will also take part in the competition.
The coaches will form four teams in each of the disciplines from the best solo league players. They will work with the teams for a few days and organize show matches between them. Next, the mentors will create one team that will include only the best of the best.
Then, the finalists will be grouped together, five teams per discipline. Group composition will be as follows: two teams — the winners of team qualifiers, two invited teams, and one team formed by coaches out of the players who showed the best results. The matches will be Bo1 and played according to the Round Robin system. The two best teams of each of the groups will get to the grand final, where they will compete for a place in the Ukrainian national team.
Registration for the team part of the qualifiers will take place from July 23 to August 14. The qualifiers themselves will take place on August 13 and 14, at 18:00 and 14:00, respectively. Hubs for solo players will be active from July 25 to August 7, and training with mentors and show matches will be held from August 7 to 14. The group stage will take place on August 15–16, and the grand finals — on August 17 and 18.
The Tekken 7 competition will be held in two stages: from August 2 to 8 and from August 9 to 15 on the WePlay Compete mobile app. Each stage of the open qualifiers runs over four days, with one playoff day and a final at the end of each week. At the playoff stage, a coach will start scouting for potential talents to take part in the world championship.
Based on the results of the two weeks, the best players will be determined who will fight in the grand final on August 17.
In order to select the best PES 2021 player who will represent Ukraine at the IeSF World Championship 2021, the Ukrainian Electronic Football Association will host the PES 2021 Summer Cup of Ukraine, which will be held from July 31 to August 8. Registration for participation in the PES 2021 Cup is open through August 25 at the link.
All citizens of Ukraine aged 16 and older can take part. There is no entry fee. To participate in the CS:GO, Dota 2, and Tekken 7 qualifiers, you must fill out the registration form at this link.
