WePlay Esports will produce the upcoming BLAST Premier Spring Showdown (27 April – 1 May) and Final (15–19 June) in Ukrainian — where Counter-Strike’s best teams will compete in the Spring Showdowns for the last two spots in June’s Spring Final that will take place in Lisbon’s Altice Arena.

The Ukrainian studio of WePlay Esports will produce the official Ukrainian-language broadcast of the BLAST Premier 2022 Spring Showdown and BLAST Premier Spring Final. The decision was made by WePlay Esports according to the company’s statement, which said that the studio froze its current Russian-language content production and would focus on Ukrainian-language esports projects.

The broadcasts will be held from Ukraine in a homecast format, without an analytics studio to ensure the safety of the talents and studio employees. The broadcast in Ukrainian will be available on WePlay Esports’ official channel on Twitch.

In such a difficult time, one of our top priorities is developing Ukrainian-language content and the Ukrainian esports ecosystem. It’s uplifting to see global Tier-1 brands and tournament operators give us a hand and contribute to making top esports tournaments available to the audience from our country in their native language,” comments Oleh Humeniuk, CEO of WePlay Holding.

The BLAST Premier Spring Final will take place at Altice Arena in Lisbon – the biggest indoor arena in Portugal and one of the biggest in Europe. Eight of the world’s leading teams will head to Lisbon in June to compete for a prize pool of $425,000/€392,000 and a place in the highly anticipated World Final in December.

Six teams have already confirmed their place at the Spring Final, including newly ranked world number one team FaZe Clan, who are coming into the event in fine form off the back of winning IEM Katowice in February and claiming first place at this month’s ESL Pro League Season 15. FaZe Clan will be joined by NAVI, Team Vitality, G2, OG, and BIG. The remaining two teams will be made up of winners from each regional Spring Showdown that takes place this week.
