Traditional sports and gaming are becoming more and more intertwined, and WePlay Esports’ CG design team felt it firsthand. The company’s latest project, NFL Tuesday Night Gaming, involved creating a design package for the show to seamlessly connect the two phenomena that seem unrelated at first glance.

Each episode of NFL Tuesday Night Gaming features a competition between NFL Legends and gaming-content influencers in popular disciplines. The production of the show is handled by the WePlay Esports team in partnership with Enthusiast Gaming. The first season has recently ended, but the enthusiasm surrounding it is vivid.

NFL is a globally renowned brand with its own quality system, and the team went to great lengths to take the creative process to the next level to release content that would be up to the standards of a serious Western production. The team spent six weeks working on the NFL Tuesday Night Gaming design and was fortunate to have the guidance and expertise of the NFL’s art director throughout the process. NFL and Enthusiast Gaming’s requirements are very precise, so the team demonstrated its professionalism by doing its best to adhere to them. WePlay Esports was determined to produce a show that would match the high standards of the NFL brand.

Before moving on to brainstorming, the team put together one big mood board with all the ideas around sports streaming that have been popping up over the past few years. Design packs, which were directly authorized by the NFL, eased this process significantly.

The brainstorming session focused on deciding what images would best fit the TNG concept. The team captured the feeling of entertainment and relaxation to emphasize that it’s a family show, not a high-pressure competitive tournament. Specialists drew inspiration from the worlds of sports and gaming and used elements from both to create an inclusive atmosphere. The use of bold imagery, such as the American football outfit and a gamepad, helped to bridge the gap between traditional sports and gaming. Incorporating bright colors, bold fonts, and dynamic graphics, WePlay Esports created an energetic and engaging environment for viewers.

Over the years, the meaning of the term “game” has undergone a significant transformation. Previously, it was used to describe activities such as football, basketball, and other physical sports. However, with the rise of technology and the Internet, the concept has expanded to include digital games such as Dota 2, Rocket League, and other e-games.

Despite this change, the essence of what makes a game remains the same. Whether it’s a physical sport or a digital game, people play to have fun, challenge themselves, and connect with others who share their interests. The thrill of competition and the joy of victory are still at the heart of what makes a game exciting, regardless of whether it’s played on a field or a computer screen. So, the design team incorporated this idea into their project.

The central concept and idea behind the project were to unite the worlds of sports and gaming. Today, people who play computer games have a lot in common with those who play football or basketball and are fans of traditional sports. Although people love to compete with each other, they are also great friends and are here to have a good time, play games, and enjoy. A friendly atmosphere is the most important thing in a competition. Whether it’s a football match or a Rocket League tournament, games have the power to bring people together and create unforgettable experiences that transcend boundaries and borders.

The attention to detail, dedication to adhering to the NFL’s and Enthusiast Gaming guidelines, and creativity allowed the designer team to deliver exceptional results. WePlay Esports takes pride in their work and looks forward to continuing to push the boundaries of design and entertainment in the exciting world of sports and esports.
