Statement from the WePlay Esports team regarding the future of the project.

In the summer of 2021, the history of our WePlay Academy League began. Created in partnership with the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive organizations, the purpose of the tournament circuit was to provide a platform for the younger generation of esports stars to grow and develop as professionals. In 18 months, we managed to hold six seasons of the tournament, including two LAN finals at the WePlay Esports Arena Kyiv in Ukraine, produce 661 hours of airtime, and gain over five million viewership hours. But this is not even the main point. The WePlay Academy League has become a springboard on the professional path of numerous players who are already shining in the Tier-1 CS:GO scene: m0NESY, torzsi, JDC, headtr1ck, xertioN, and many others. And at the same time, the tournament gathered around itself a community of spectators from all over the world. Thank you for being with us all this time.

Today, we have to announce that the WePlay Academy League project is on pause until the end of the full-scale war in Ukraine. The experience of the recent seasons has shown that in the present situation, there are no proper conditions that would allow us to hold the next seasons of the tournament to the standard we set since Season 1. As before, the safety of our staff and all tournament participants is our top priority. This decision was agreed upon with all participating organizations.

We are not saying goodbye to the WePlay Academy League — only “see you soon.” Thank you for your understanding. And, please, support Ukraine.

WePlay Esports team.
