The company will be instrumental in upgrading the university’s equipment and facilities and launching specialized internship programs and lectures from specialists with hands-on experience both from Ukraine and overseas.
Ukrainian production company WePlay Studios and Kyiv National Karpenko-Kary Theater, Cinema, and Television University have agreed on long-term social cooperation to help future specialists acquire field-specific practical skills and knowledge. The company will launch its own internship program, within which university students will be able to learn all the ins and outs of the field by working on real-life cases.
Also, WePlay Studios is to offer suggestions for improving the professional education process and organize seminars and lectures jointly with the university. WePlay employees will train the young talents, sharing the knowledge and skills they themselves have found handy over their years-long career paths. Also, the company is currently negotiating with international educators and practical experts in order to involve them in the teaching process and promote the exchange of knowledge across borders.
“This is the type of cooperation that primarily benefits students. Right now, the university is trying to implement a dual education system, with students studying theory for six months and practicing it for the next six months. There are only several such educational institutions throughout the country. The practice, equipment, and facilities that WePlay Studios can provide to us will have a beneficial effect on the educational process and will enable students to learn the ropes of this line of work from the inside”, comments Inna Kocharyan, rector of the Kyiv National Karpenko-Kary Theater, Cinema, and Television University.
“Many WePlay Studios employees are Kyiv National Karpenko-Kary Theater, Cinema, and Television University grads. They are hard-working and creative specialists who are now showing the whole world what Ukrainian talent is worth, working with the most famous gaming and sports brands. It is a great honor and responsibility for us today to be involved in helping young talents who are starting out on their way toward becoming true professionals and the future film industry elite. We are actively considering various training formats in order to be able to transmit our expertise gained working both in Ukraine and overseas, as well as to shape today’s practical training in Ukraine. Because only people who work in the industry can teach how to be creative in the industry,” shares WePlay Studios’ CEO Yura Lazebnikov.
This is not the first instance of cooperation between WePlay Studios and the Kyiv National Karpenko-Kary University of Theater, Cinema, and Television. Previously, the company launched the Animation Director course with Maksym Bilonogov, WePlay Studios’ general producer and chief visionary officer, as the course master. It’s been up and running since 2021, with 3D graphics, game design, animation design, and audiovisual clipmaking being taught.
