WePlay Studios, a leading content production company, has been recognized as a two-time nominee for the Webby Awards in the AI, Metaverse & Virtual – Entertainment, Sports & Music category. This recognition is for its outstanding production contribution to creating the VTuber Awards and Astra Carnival: The Prince Cup Invitational.
WePlay Studios is thrilled to announce that two of the events produced by WePlay became the nominees for the 28th Annual Webby Awards. Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence on the Internet.
WePlay Studios is competing for the win with the following projects:
- Astra Carnival: The Prince Cup Invitational, the first international Genius Invokation TCG Tournament series. As the official production partner, WePlay was responsible for producing this event: the venue's design, design elements for the broadcast, lighting, and music for the show, as well as for uninterrupted broadcasting. The live broadcast of Astra Carnival: The Prince Cup Invitational lasted four hours and 40 minutes. At its peak, the show was watched by 22,507 viewers, with a total of 42,526 hours watched.
- The VTuber Awards, a one-of-a-kind major celebration of the VTubing community and its contribution to global streaming culture. Together with Mythic Talent and Filian, the company contributed to the development of the event format and its technical implementation, including the creation of the Awards’ brand identity, computer graphics, augmented reality elements for broadcast, the content plan realization, creation of side-content about the nominees, the general history of VTubing, and its community.
“Nominees like WePlay Studios are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said Nick Borenstein, General Manager of The Webby Awards. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 13,000 entries we received this year.”
As a nominee, WePlay is also eligible to win a Webby People’s Voice Award, which is voted on online by fans worldwide. From now until April 18th, everyone can cast their votes at vote.webbyawards.com. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, and honored in a star-studded show at Cipriani Wall Street.
