The WePlay Compete tournament platform — one of the products of the WePlay Holding esports corporate group — the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and 10Guards have organized an amateur tournament in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) — “Cyber Heroes.” The offline part will take place on November 2 and will feature invited teams.

The purpose of the event is to get to know public and private Ukrainian cybersecurity industry representatives, as well as those who would like to become part of these organizations in the future (including school and college students). The organizers of the tournament, which was part of National Cybersecurity Month, have urged them to compete in the virtual world and make friends in real life.

The online part of the amateur competition was held from October 16 to 31 on the WePlay Compete tournament platform. To participate, the players had to register, assemble a team of two or five people, and install a licensed CS:GO game. Every Saturday, there were 2X2 competitions, and on Sundays, 5X5 were played.

“We at WePlay Holding are promoting esports in Ukraine and developing the amateur scene in particular. In my opinion, esports competitions where anyone can take part and win amazing prizes are one of the best tools to help introduce people to this field. It’s really great that such initiatives now have the support of organizations that haven’t worked with esports before. I am sure that “Cyber Heroes” is just the beginning of our fruitful cooperation with the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry!” says Oleksii Nogin, head of tournament operations at WePlay Compete.

“This cybersecurity month was held with a focus on helping youth, students, and children develop in this important segment. A landmark event was an esports competition called “Cyber Heroes.” Dozens of teams from different educational institutions, amateur associations, and hackers took part in a fair fight. It is very important that the motto we promoted — “Fight in the esports arena, make friends in the real world” — seems to have worked. I would like to congratulate all the participants and the winners. From now on, we will hold “Cyber Heroes” competitions every year,” noted Volodymyr Kolyadenko, vice-president of the Kyiv CCI, head of the Electronic Communications Committee of the Ukrainian CCI, head of the Anticrisis Center of Cyber Security of Business at the Ukrainian CCI.

The offline part of the tournament will be held on November 2 at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry headquarters. Four invited teams will take part in the competition: State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine (CERT), Institute of Special Communications and Information Protection, cyber police, and a hacker team. The best players of the tournament will get prizes from competition partners Artline and Cougar. Matches will be available to watch on Twitch.tv.
