The WePlay Esports team was recognized by the Digital Impact Awards jury for their use of AR and the use of digital from the technology, media, and telecommunications sector.
Every year, the Digital Impact Awards honor the most noteworthy digital engagement and the best digital communication work in the corporate segment. This year, WePlay AniMajor, the WePlay Esports DPC Major tournament, got bronze in two categories “Best Use of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality” and “Best Use Of Digital From The Technology, Media, And Telecommunications Sector”, picked by the respective jury from the pool of nominees. WePlay AniMajor took place in 2021 amidst a pandemic, without in-person attendees, so digital communication and entertainment were the best options to engage viewers and break the record as one of the world’s most-watched Dota 2 tournaments.
“We put a lot of emphasis on using AR technology to blur the line between the game world and the real world. AniMajor was held during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we could not do it with a live audience on the site. And the emotions of the audience in the hall are undoubtedly what convey the atmosphere to others on the other side of the screen. That is why we put so much time and energy into the technological effectiveness of our broadcast — so that a viewer can feel they are present in the arena without physically being there,” says Maksym Bilonogov, chief visionary officer and general producer at WePlay Esports.
WePlay Esports is proud of its award and thanks all participants and jury for the interesting and fair competition.
